Imagine this: you just moved into the neighborhood and you’re standing in your new home. The last time you saw the space, it was completely empty. Now it is filled with a mountain of boxes and you can’t even see the floor. You’re trying to get everything put away before you go back to work, but you aren’t sure if everything is going to fit and it is seriously stressing you out. Say no more – we get it! Organizing can be quite overwhelming. It can take up a lot of time, too, especially if you don’t know how or where to begin. Instead of stressing and trying to strategize on your own, why not consider working with a professional organizer?
At LA Move Consultants, we offer professional organizing services to accommodate your specific needs. Our team can facilitate a smooth move straight into a new, organized home, or we can help you declutter your current home. We like to think of ourselves as artists. Your home is our blank canvas. Our goal is to make it more comfortable, functional, and beautiful with organization solutions that reduce stress, free up your schedule, and give you more time to do the things you love. Read more below to see how we can make that happen for you!
Step 1: Getting to Know Each Other
When you choose to work with us, the first step of the process is a free introductory call. We know how important it is to feel comfortable with the organizer(s) who will be coming into your home and working intimately with you to make it work. We’ll ask questions to learn more about you and your needs, so that we can create a custom plan to address your organization challenges.
As we get to know you, we want you to get to know us, too. We are looking forward to working together to make your space more organized!
My name is Andrea Krohn and I am the founder of LA Move Consultants. I have been helping clients organize, declutter, manage and move their homes for over a decade. I have leveraged my education in Fine Arts and my experience in organizational media management to help plan, design, and build three homes. My personal experience with multiple relocations throughout my career inspired me to begin helping others organize their lives and “re-move” the stress in moving. I am currently a member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals) and President of the Los Angeles Chapter. I have also earned specialist certificates in Life Transitions and Move Management and & Staging from the National Association Of Productivity and Organizing Professionals.
Katie was born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. After graduation, she began pursuing a public relations career, but as time went on, she realized it wasn’t for her. Being a natural born organizer and planner, building a career off of those skills made the most sense. She is a member of NAPO and the Director of Marketing for the Los Angeles chapter.
Katie and I met in 2020 and have been working together ever since. Katie enjoys helping clients with all aspects of their move from beginning to end. She loves to teach clients the necessary skills to keep organized, and help clients get settled in their new spaces to make it feel like home.
Meet Elissa, an Organizer at LA Move Consultants. With a background in fashion design and a successful career as a legwear designer in the heart of New York City, Elissa brings a unique blend of creativity and attention to detail to her role.
Following her relocation to California, Elissa put her innate organizational skills to work, turning her passion into a profession four years ago. This pivotal career decision has been marked by dedication and perseverance.
Elissa’s commitment to her new profession led her to obtain a Residential Organizing Certificate through the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO). She loves being part of the team at LA Move Consultants, where she collaborates to transform disordered spaces into organized, functional, and harmonious living environments.
Step 2: Unpacking & Planning
Now that you know a little bit about our backgrounds and expertise, let’s talk about how we can apply it to your project! We will come to your home for an organizing session. You can expect the first session to last for a minimum of 4 hours. Four hours tends to be the sweet spot for our clients, as it can be difficult to be successful when you’re in the thick of it for too long.
First things first, we will unpack everything in the room where it belongs. We do this before anything is categorized and put away, so that we can see exactly what we’re working with and make smart choices about where items belong within the room.
We always make sure that our organization systems function for YOU and the way you live. Our team knows the questions to ask so that we can make decisions based on how you will use your home. For example, are you a righty or a lefty? This might change where you want your coffee mugs in relation to your coffee maker. Do you like to keep your extra bedding in one linen closet or store it in each room? Even though we live in sunny southern California, do you change out your comforter for the seasons?
When it comes to organizing closets, spare us no details! We want to know all of your preferences, such as:
- Do you prefer to hang or fold your clothes?
- Do you prefer to sort by color, sleeve length, or both?
- Which items do you wear most often?
- If you aren’t sure what you prefer, we want to help you figure it out! We will implement systems that work for you and your lifestyle.
At the end of the day, we want you to be happy and comfortable in your own home. We will use our expertise to make a plan of action that is tailored to meet your specific needs and lifestyle.
Step 3: Purging
During this step of the process, clients sometimes ask us the classic question of how to declutter effectively. The answer? Purge, purge, and purge again! If we helped coordinate your move, then you have most likely already gone through one round of purging before your belongings were packed up and brought to your new home. But before we start putting anything away, we will do another edit just to make sure that your space is only filled with items that add value to your life.
Step 4: Purge. Organize. Repeat.
When you take a closer look at the process, you can see how organizing goes hand in hand with persistence. We will keep coming back for continued sessions of purging and organizing for your entire home. Space by space, we will take everything out, declutter and categorize, and then put it away, using a system with the right organization products to make everything in your space accessible.
We understand that your belongings have personal value and that it may be difficult to part with some of them. Every item has a story. Compassion is one of our core values, and we will take the time to hold space for you. We want to hear the stories of why your belongings are important to you, so that we can help you make the best decisions about what to keep.
One of the things I love about being a professional organizer is that no two jobs are alike. Every house, client, and project is different. With over a decade of experience behind us, my team and I have collected so many stories that we could tell. However, client privacy is of the utmost importance to us, so you will simply have to trust me when I say that I have seen it all. Nothing scares us! We are not here to judge our clients, only to provide support and help you achieve effective results. Each and every one of our decisions is based on our clients’ unique challenges and goals. With all of that being said, it can be challenging to provide an estimate for how long your space will take to complete. It can vary greatly, depending on your individual needs.
Organizing an entire home (or even one room in a home) can be intimidating, but remember that you don’t have to do it alone. Working with a professional organizer can help you streamline the process, make efficient decisions, and improve your comfort in your own home. Ready to tackle this together?
